Glen Fast, Music Director
Glen Fast, recognized as one of Canada's finest conductors, celebrates his 23rd season as Music Director of the Kingston Symphony Association in 2013-2014 season. Under his leadership the Kingston Symphony has reached standards of performance through which it has become one of Canada's leading regional orchestras.
Mr. Fast's earliest musical studies were in piano and violin, but his major interests, by the time he entered the University of Victoria in 1970, had become flute and conducting. Upon graduation, he became a member of the Hamilton Philharmonic, after which, in 1979, he began his conducting career as Assistant Conductor of the Vancouver Symphony. Throughout his career, he has championed new Canadian music, be it as a guest conductor across Canada and in Mexico or with the Kingston Symphony where he has, in his tenure as Music Director, performed over 20 world premieres.
